Why Sharing Your Story Matters

During a course designed to uncover and acknowledge bias, a woman shared that she had grown up in a home with domestic violence. She went on to share that at school she and her classmates had a teacher who beat them with a stick. She also talked about the religious leaders who sexually abused the children. There was no safe place for her growing up.
